i was wondering if anybody would be in favor of expanding the off-limits period for points tournaments.
right now, it is a 12 hour off-limits time period.
so, if we fish sunday at 6am, you can be on the water until 6pm saturday night.
that is almost no off-limits at all...
the only tournament where it would come into play more is the night tournament,
were you would have to be off the water by 8am that saturday morning.

i was thinking like a 24 hour off-limits time period where you cannot fish the lake the day before the tournament.
just a thought...
tell me what you think.

This rule was put in place years back because the majority of the Club worked Monday thru Friday and couldn’t get out to pre-fish until the week-end of the Tournament.  If we change this Rule then the only time these people can pre-fish the lake during Tournament hours would be the week prior to the Tournament thus hoping the fishing conditions don’t change for 7 days.  I guess I wouldn’t be in favor of this change because it’s hard enough for some of these guys to pre-fish as it is and to force them off the lake the day before the tournament would be too harsh of a penalty.  I understand that they would only be hurting themselves by sore mouthing their fish for the next day but that would be there choice.

ok, i understand.
so, why not just eliminate the off-limits period.
what is the purpose keeping it?

I think we should just leave it the way it is today.  This will take away any advantage of someone getting an early start prior to the Tournament.

this is one reason i brought this topic up...  if it would help you to be able to fish saturday night before the tournament, you should bring it up at a meeting, and we can discuss it...  maybe other people feel the same way and would vote to change the by-law.  nitroderrek

This would be a big advantage to the people that have days off during the week. Most of us work Monday till Friday and can only fish on weekends. So if we are going to change this then maybe we should make it a week to give everyone the same chance to prefish

I think we talked about this last year and it didnt go threw. If we changed it to 24 hours pior then thoses who work during the week couldnt ever pre-fish a tournamnet. So,advanage is to thoses who have days off during the week.Might as well have the lake off limits for the week, also no one wants to drive and pre-fish a lake after work durnig the week.Leave the rule alone and keep it 12 hours.

Most of the working peaple in this club can only prefish a lake on saterday thats why I think we should change it to dusk the day before the turniment. :Smiley

IMO....6pm the night before is like a no off limits period anyway.  However, at least now I have a solid excuse as to why I can't catch fish in the tournaments....it's because you chumps are out there (as Dave says) "sore mouthing" them 10 minutes before we launch boats!
